LEARNING is lively at Langford Budville Primary School.

The village school, just five minutes away from Wellington, has 44 pupils, but the school believes small is beautiful and good things come in small packages.

Headteacher, Jane Major, said: “At our school you will find the things you would expect to see in any school, coupled with the advantages of a personalised approach to learning where the needs of every child really can be at the heart of our aspirations.

Somerset County Gazette:

“We take full advantage of our location set in the beautiful countryside 5 minutes’ drive from the town. Our children make regular visits into the local environment, whether on weekly welly walks for the younger children or team building and problem solving activities such as den building for the older ones.

“We are a church school and value the links we have with our local village community.

“The vicar and his team are regular visitors to lead assemblies and support other aspects of learning, from making pancakes for Shrove Tuesday to helping establish a ‘reflection garden’ as part of work on our church school distinctiveness."

Somerset County Gazette:

The school has recently been praised by Ofsted, with inspectors saying the school continued to be ‘good’.

“We are proud of our school, and are pleased that our achievements have once again been recognized by Ofsted," headteacher Major added.

“We believe that together we create an environment where all children and adults are treated as individuals and where everyone is encouraged to give of their best.

“Every effort and success is acknowledged and celebrated by us all.

“We help children learn to recognise their own talents and to appreciate what others have to offer.

Somerset County Gazette:

“We expect that when children leave us they will have developed a curiosity for and love of learning, positive ‘can do’ attitudes and the resilience to cope with the challenges they will face as they move on to the next stage in their lives.”
