ROYAL Marines from 40 Commando have been busy rehearsing for their Freedom of Taunton parade through the county town on Saturday.

The event marks their 35 years based at Norton Manor Camp, Norton Fitzwarren.

The day kicks off at 9am with plenty of activities in and around the town centre.

The troops will step off at 11am, making their way from Priory Bridge Road to Fore Street via the Town Bridge and North Street.

Taunton Deane Mayor Cllr Catherine Herbert will inspect the troops with Somerset's Vice Lord Lieutenant, Brig David Godsal.

Commanding Officer Liuet Col Paul Maynard will make an address.

The parade will then process along Corpoartion Street, The Crescent and Upper High Street to Vivary Park for a service of commemoration and remembrance at the war memorial.

Another ceremony including wreath laying will be held at the war memorial.
