SUMMER holiday adventures are returning to the National Trust's Fyne Court in July and August - and they'll also be taking place at Wellington Monument for the first time.

The activities are aimed at encouraging children to explore the countryside, themed around the trust’s '50 things' initiative, including building dens, using a compass and bug safaris.

The National Trust team will be at Wellington Monument to help youngsters 'go wild' on Mondays between 10am and 2pm, from July 30 to August 27.

Emma Jones, community engagement and fundraising officer, said: "I’m so pleased to be working closely with the Wellington community and can’t wait to meet families during the summer holidays.

"Children of all ages are welcome. There will be a chance to get stuck-in with an activity and get closer to nature.

"We’re pleased to be able to say we’re committed to saving the monument. We’re launching a fundraising campaign and hope that our events will help towards saving the monument and keep it special for ever, for everyone."

At Fyne Court, the trust is continuing with its ever-popular Wild Weeks activities on Wednesdays from July 25 until August 29 from 10am to 2pm.

Each week will see different activities based on themes such a light and dark.

All activities are free, and no booking is necessary, but a suggested £2 donation per child is welcomed.
