A COMMUNITY transport provider had a double windfall on the same day, boosting its coffers by more than £2,000.

The Loyal Vacation Lodge of the Wiveliscombe Masons donated £1,500 to the Wiveliscombe Area Partnership, which manages Wivey Link, following a year's fundraising.

Worshipful Master Maurice Sadler decided during his year of office to support the charity so it can keep its cars on the road and raised the cash mainly through a race night and a dinner dance.

He said: "Wivey Link is a good local cause and we have been pleased to support it this year."

The Jim Lake Fund, which supports local groups in memory of a former town stalwart, has donated £830 to cover the tax for all Wivey Link vehicles.

Pauline Homeshaw, chairman of the Wiveliscombe Area Partnership, said: "Everyone connected with WAP and Wivey Link is so grateful for the support of the Jim Laker Fund and the Wiveliscombe Masonic Lodge.

"Without this giving, our job would be so much harder.

"We love the work we do as volunteers, offering transport to those who haven’t any and every penny counts."
