RECENT editions of the County Gazette rightly celebrated the long connection between Taunton Deane and the Royal Commandos based at Norton Manor.
The articles were not the time to remind readers that the Marines will be leaving Taunton Deane in due course, if the closure of Norton Manor camp cannot be averted.

But local residents will have strong feelings and reaction when reminded of that fact, and the additional threat of big cuts in the Royal Marines after a government report, so that our local Marines are likely to face cuts as well as relocation.
Gideon Amos has been campaigning against the closure and the cuts for a long time.
