MORE than 600 people enjoyed an afternoon and evening of music, dancing and refreshments at the 28th Rock on the Green outside St Andrews Club on Saturday.

Local bands played on the stage, including a group of teenagers making their debut appearance, and there were stalls manned by primary school representatives, a bouncy castle, bar and barbeque.

As well as the schools keeping their takings, more than £2,000 was raised to be shared between St Andrew's Scouts, who ran the barbeque, Mission In North Taunton (MINT) and Priorswood Primary School, while some funds will go towards an x box for a children's ward at Musgrove Park Hospital.

Mike Walsh, chairman of the organising committee said: "People thoroughly enjoyed it again.

"We're grateful to volunteers who helped out on the day and to our sponsors, without who the event couldn't go ahead."

Mr Walsh and Paul Whitefield, of the entertainments committee, have helped organise the annual event since it started.
