THE Taunton Strategic Advisory Board (TSAB) plays a vital part in supporting the delivery of Taunton’s ambitions to develop as a sustainable, healthy and prosperous garden town for current and future generations.

The Board includes representatives from the public, private and voluntary sectors and is an important adviser to the borough council.

Members focus on strategic issues essential to Taunton’s future growth and prosperity including:

• Delivery of housing, employment and economic growth

• Major infrastructure & regeneration schemes

• The quality of the environment, social, health & cultural issues

• Skills, education and lifelong learning

• Innovative solutions through design and new digital technology

Their input helps to bring about much needed homes, improvements to our economy, and better leisure and cultural facilities, helping to make Taunton a great place to live and work.

John Clothier has recently stepped down after chairing the Board for 13 years and I would like to thank him for his expertise and commitment.

His departure means the search is now on for a new champion of Taunton to take on a leading role in the group.

It is undoubtedly an exciting time to be getting involved. Taunton’s designation as the first garden town in the south west has brought fresh impetus to its ambitions and the Strategic Advisory Board will play a vital role in helping to galvanise enthusiasm and delivery.

Applicants must be passionate about the future of Taunton, experienced in working with senior representatives from range of stakeholder groups and partner organisations; and able to inspire the Board to effectively fulfil its responsibilities, and ensure it remains focussed.

Anyone interested in the role of chairing the Board can find details at www.investtaunton.co.uk/news/new-chair-person-required-for-taunton-strategic-advisory-board/

Expressions of interest need to be lodged with Taunton Deane Borough Council by the end of August.
