CARNIVAL bosses are warning people to 'use it or lose it' as entries open.

Those wishing to take part in the carnival on September 30 can submit their interest online or over the phone.

Wellington has joined up with the other carnivals in the South Somerset Federation to create a website to save paper.

To find the link, click here, or search South Somerset Federation of Carnivals Entry Form 2018 online.

Alternatively call Sam on 01823 662198 to give your details over the phone.

Wellington chairman Dave Rylatt said: "Wellington Carnival is probably the biggest event that happens in our town each year; we are proud to keep our town involved with this unique Somerset experience.

"All surplus monies collected each year get distributed to local groups and charities; the traditional 'collection', and crowds turning up to watch carnival seem to be dwindling year by year, we need to get across a simple message: support your town's carnival, or you will lose it, it is your choice.

"We are experiencing more and more scrutiny from the local authorities, and although the event is entirely run by volunteers, the event has to be run in a professional way.

"If we ever lose our carnival, we will never get it back."

When completing the questionnaire you will have the option to enter just Wellington Carnival, or all four of the South Somerset Federation Towns (Wellington, Taunton, Chard and Ilminster), you are free to enter whichever carnivals you wish.

On completion of the simple questionnaire (takes around 4 minutes to complete), you will receive an automated email confirming your entry.
