IN October 2016, we moved from Surrey to Henlade.

Taunton is a lovely, historic town, with lots of listed buildings.

A few weeks ago, I wrote to Taunton Deane Borough Council stating that, in the modern Western World in 2018, there should be no homeless people.

Having cleaned tramps and the homeless people up at The West Middlesex Hospital, the staff give them a bath and a clean bed for the night, only to go back on the streets the following day.

The homeless need to feel valued in life.

With the Goverment cuts in every town and city in England, the vulnerable are walking around the streets like zombies.

The system needs a creative, practical agenda, an incentive to make their lives worthwhile, like we all do now and again!

Surely Taunton, being the County Town of Somerset, the council should try and consider people instead of concrete spaces.

Shops are closing down up and down the country due to online shopping.

Since 2016 we have seen a big deterioration in the town’s shops, so when all the shops are boarded up, there will be no interaction, no more communication.

The buses which I go on each day from Henlade finish about 7pm, with no Sunday service, and no Bank Holiday service.

Even in a small town called Addlestone, Surrey, the buses ran until 11pm, Monday to Monday, with an hourly service on a Sunday and a Bank Holiday.

A town a lot smaller than Taunton.

It is time to speak up!
