MORE than 100 fish have died at a Wellington nature spot as the dry and hot weather continues.
Agents from the Environment Agency were at The Basins yesterday as fish were dying in amid growing concern for the remaining species.
The EA remains at the beauty spot today (July 26) as efforts to oxygenate the water continues.

One eye witness said: "Looks like the Environment Agency has been called in to try and put some oxygen back into the water at the Basins after more 100 fish were found dead and others are clearly struggling for air in the water.
"I think it's due to the freak hot weather."

A spokesman for the Environment Agency has confirmed up to 100 fish have been killed.
The spokesman said: "We are currently responding to reports of 40-100 fish killed at a local nature reserve at the Basins, Rockwell Green, Wellington caused by the dry weather.
"Roach, perch and bream have been identified. There is also about 1,000 fish in distress, caused by low oxygen levels.
"Field Operation teams are deploying aeration equipment to try and increase the levels. Our fisheries teams will work with our planning cell to manage our response going forward."
