UK Hydrographic Office staff are cycling 115 miles from Portsmouth to Taunton to raise money for Musgrove Leukaemic Group Somerset.

While 25 employees will undertake the challenge on Monday, August 20, others will cover shorter rides along the route.

The cycle will begin from HMS Victory and HM Naval Base Portsmouth are fully supportive of the event, with the Naval Base Commander joining UKHO cyclists for a few miles.

Alongside the event, the UKHO will be organising a raffle to raise additional funds, offering the chance to win a bike.

Musgrove Leukaemic Group Somerset, which supports leukaemia and lymphoma patients and their families in Musgrove Park Hospital, is the UKHO's charity of the year.

Ray Paice, who is cycling the whole distance, said: "The event has taken some effort to organise as well as lots of training miles, but supporting the amazing work the Musgrove Leukaemic Group Somerset does makes it so worthwhile."

Since 2007, the UKHO Charity Committee has raised more than £115,000 for several charities.
