STOGUMBER is the latest community in West Somerset to get its own cinema.

The opening event, taking place on Friday, August 31, will be a screening of the box office hit The Greatest Showman.

The special screening of this musical about PT Barnum's quest to create the circus comes complete with the lyrics on screen so the audience can sing along with their favourite tunes from the film.

Fittingly, the film with screened in Stogumber's very own big top tent - a large marquee at the village's cricket ground.

Stogumber Cinema is being assisted to get off the ground by projectionist Eddie Gaines who has been involved with Cinema Obscura in Wiveliscombe for many years.

A licensed bar and ice-creams will be available from 7:30pm with the screening of The Greatest Showman starting just after sunset at about 8:15pm.

Tickets are £5 for adults and £3 for children in advance and £6 on the night.

Future films will be screened on the first Friday of the month.

For tickets call 01984 656058 or 656526, or email stogumbercinema@gmail.com.

Stogumber also has its renowned music festival soon.

Taking place from September 7-9, a variety of artists will be performing including top folk singers, an internationally acclaimed Czech pianist and acapella choir from Bristol.
