TAUNTON DEANE MENTAL HEALTH FORUM A WONDERFUL, vital project, the brain child of a Community Health nurse , was the subject of the talk to the Taunton Deane Mental Health Forum in July .

The role of the project, started three years ago, was to enable people to use and develop their strengths, within a sympathetic environment. A quiet and resource room was set up for quiet reflection where clients can also borrow books, videos and find information. This holistic approach has been successful and one person has left to go to university and others to pursue careers and find employment.

New ideal premises have been found in the Priorswood area and topics now covered include computing, nutrition, information for parents, spirituality and aromatherapy. The project is continuing with clients and volunteers, with support and input when needed. It also has connections with West Country Training and Consultancy services Ltd.

World Mental Health Day is on Wednesday, October 10 and the Forum other agencies will be represented in the Pig market in Taunton on that day.

For the next meeting of the Forum the venue will be at The Baptist Church, Silver Street, Taunton at 12.15pm when the speaker will be Chris Gordon on 'Personality Disorders.'
