A FULL programme of events has been organised at Taunton's St John's Church as part of the National Heritage weekend.

The event, which runs from today (Thursday) through to Sunday, kicks off with a swing with 'Just Pete Allan', an evening of entertainment with the celebrated jazz musician, renowned both locally and nationally.

On Friday afternoon at 3pm there will be a demonstration of flower arrangements and an organ works recital by the musical director of the Park Street church.

The church is open from 10am-4pm on Saturday for various events, including two organ recitals, while a trip up the tower to view Taunton's landmarks has been arranged for those with a head for heights.

On Sunday morning, there is a Sung Eucharist Harvest Festival service at 10am, followed by coffee and biscuits in the choir vestry.

At 2.30pm there will be a walk and talk around St Johns Church led by county historian Dr Robert Dunning, who will talk on the history of the church and the importance to the local community.

The weekend concludes with a Harvest Choral Evensong on Sunday evening at 6.30pm, with local choir, In Ecclesia.
