Parish Council: When the parish council reconvened after its summer break there was some good news - Nynehead had been successful yet again in the Village of the Year competition, winning the People' category. Thanks were given to Paul Netley and his team for successfully making Nynehead's case.

A site meeting with the county council education and highway officers is being sought to look at ways of improving parking and the dropping off/picking up of children at Nynehead School and safe routes for pupils and parents to walk to the school.

The council has objected to revised plans for a new house in Blackdown View. The revisions still do not meet the council's view that it is out of character with the neighbourhood.

No objections were raised to an agricultural store in East Nynehead, the retention of three mobile homes at Lodge Copse and the conversion of a barn to four dwellings just outside the parish at Middle Chipley.

In co-operation with the landowner it is proposed to replace stiles with kissing gates on the footpath from Stedhams Covert to the pumping station near the school.

Finally the council's finances have been given a clean bill of health by the external auditors.

The next meeting is on Monday, October 1 in the Memorial Hall, starting at 7.30 p.m. for more information contact David Rabson on 01823 666609.
