PLANS are now in motion for the Minehead and Porlock Christmas Tree Festival.

Organised by the Minehead and Porlock Branch of Save the Children and the Avenue Methodist Church for the past four years, they are hoping December's event will be even better than last year's.

This year's event on the theme of trees will take place from Thursday, December 6, until Sunday, December 9.

Included in the event will be a life-size nativity scene and the church will be open for the public to view a display of illuminated trees and listen to Christmas music.

Anyone who has not joined in the festival in the past are welcome to take part in the special event.

This year alone Save the Children has helped thousands of children affected by flooding in Indonesia, Bolivia and Mozambique.

Events such as the tree festival raise much-needed funds to continue this work.
