YOUNG people are being encouraged to take part in the Taunton Junior Aquathlon on September 16.
The event, sponsored by solicitors Foot Anstey, is expanding with an extra age category for competitors.
Application forms are now available for anyone aged between eight and 16 years who want to compete in the race.
An aquathlon is a continuous race over various distances in the disciplines of swimming and running. The clock starts as they enter the swimming pool and stops as they cross the finishing line after the run.
The competition has five age categories eight years, nine and ten years, 11 and 12 years, 13 and 14 years and the new 15 and 16 years. Entrants swim and run varying distances according to their category.
The Aquathlon is organised by Tone Leisure, local triathlon club Somerset RC Tri, and Queens College, who will provide the venue.
