POLICE are appealing for help in identifying a man wanted in connection with a public order offence in Taunton, which happened last Wednesday (August 29).

Two 16 year-old girls were walking along East Street at around 11.30pm, towards a fish and chip shop, when they became aware of someone following them.

They decided to go to a friend's house on Winchester Street, just behind East Reach.

After standing there for a few minutes, they decided to make their way home, so headed back onto East Reach.

They were then stood outside The Naval and Military public house when they were approached by a man who made an inappropriate comment to them.

The man continued past them, but then turned and followed the girls, who picked up their pace before starting to run, followed by the man.

The man kept up with them until they got back to their friend's house.

Police have described the man as white, in his early 40's, 5ft 7ins, of large built, with long blond/brown hair which was thin and pulled over his face, which was also long and thin, and he was clean shaven.

He was described as wearing a black zip up leather jacket, light coloured t-shirt with a round neck, dark trousers, dark footwear, and having a deep voice.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who can help identify this man.
