A MINEHEAD athlete has brought home a medal from the 2007 World Transplant Games.
Alison Cliffe, 51, one of more than 1,000 transplant recipients taking part to highlight the need for organ donors, won a bronze in Bangkok. Alison, who has had a kidney transplant, won her medal in tennis.
She has previously won gold medals in tennis and canoeing, silver medals in discus and badminton, and bronze in table tennis at the 30th British Transplant Games in Edinburgh.
Before going out to Bangkok Alison, a keen member of the Exeter Adults hospital team, said: "This event is a vital part of the rehabilitation process and gives all competitors a focus, as well being a place to celebrate the gift of life and an opportunity to thank our donors and their families."
Supported by the International Olympic Committee, the World Transplant Games, held every two years, represents the largest organ donor awareness event in the world, featuring nine days of sporting events.
This year's games took place from Saturday, August 25-September 2.
