WI: The September meeting received apologies from several members who were away on holiday. After taking the Minutes as read, the President, Pam Parry, outlined the events taking place during the coming month.. The Events Organizer, Ann Salmon, gave details of the arranged trips, which included a visit to Beer Caves with lunch and a free afternoon in the village; lunch at Tracey Mill Trout Farm; a coach trip to Slimbridge; Dunster by candlelight in December and theatre visits. The members agreed with the treasurer, Pernelle Rowe, that as there were ample funds available some coach trips could be subsidised.

The speaker for the evening was Graham Wallace, who entertained the members with his description of how he started the popular Wallace's Farm and Shop'. His stories of farming deer, bison and highland cattle were very amusing, particularly the one about the herd of runaway bison!

Old and new members will be very welcome at the next Smeatharpe W.I. meeting on October 4 at 7.30p.m., when the new committee will be announced and Rita Batchelor and helpers will be running a Bring & Buy stall.
