SOMERSET Primary Care Trust is holding its first annual meeting at it Yeovil HQ in Wynford House, Lufton Way, Yeovil, at 6pm on Wednesday, September 19.
Somerset Primary Care Trust - key facts *Somerset PCT was formed on October 1 last year from the merger of Somerset Coast, Mendip, Taunton Deane and South Somerset PCTs.
*Somerset PCT serves a population of 529,000 and employs 2,816 staff.
*Somerset PCT coordinates the planning and funding of - 75 GP practices; 76 dental surgeries; 88 community pharmacies; 59 optometric practices.
Somerset PCT is also directly responsible for the delivery of community health services including 13 community hospitals; health visiting and school nurse teams; community matrons and district nursing teams; physiotherapy and occupational therapy teams; sexual health and contraceptive services; smoking cessation services.
*The PCT's funding allocation for 2007/08 is about £662 million.
*At the end of this financial year the PCT had an operating surplus.
