HUNDREDS of people enjoyed the World Wellington Boot Throwing Championships at Court Fields School on Saturday.
This year saw a new record set in the men’s competition, with Peter Knox throwing a massive 36.8m - you can watch a video of his effort below.
The event was opened by the mayor of Wellington, Cllr Gary James, which was followed by a display by the Wellington Majorettes.
The Wellington Silver Band and local Ukulele Group provided live music.
Sue White, event organiser said: "This was our 10th anniversary and my last year of organising the event.
"We had a fantastic day, thankfully the rain held off although it was chilly at times. The crowds which were more plentiful than we originally thought and everyone seemed to have a wonderful time.
"The longest male throw record was broken by Peter Knox who threw a massive 36.8m. We believe that the numbers were up this year and the competition between the men was amazing and so were extremely competitive.
"It was not just the men though as the women were trying to improve their scores and were being extremely competitive! I would like to thank the committee, the various organisations who joined us this year, the competitors, visitors and all the volunteers, especially my family and their friends, for helping us make this another successful event."
