A MAIN road through West Somerset was left closed yesterday evening in both directions following a crash.
The A39 was shut between the junction with the B3191 in Carhampton and the junction with Monksway, in Washford.
Minehead fire station sent two fire engines while a rescue crew from Taunton also attended.
The crash involved two vehicles, with one person trapped and was released by firefighters using specialist hydraulic equipment.
There were two further casualties who were walking wounded.
A spokesman for the South West Ambulance Service Trust said: "We were called at 4.24pm to attend a road traffic incident involving a lorry and a car on the A39 near Billbrook, Minehead.
"We sent the following resources to attend the incident: two ambulances, a rapid response car, and an operations commander.
"Two patients were taken to Musgrove Park Hospital for treatment. One male had chest pains, but neither were thought to be seriously injured."
Police and Ambulance also attended, and first aid was given at the scene.
