A MAN was robbed after a group of several people struck him on the head and stole his wallet and phone.
The victim reported the crime on Sunday (September 23) - although he cannot remember the exact date he was attacked, he believes it was within the past month.
A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police, who are appealing for witnesses, said: "The man told officers a group of six or seven people struck him on the head and took his wallet and phone.
"He said it was dark, he had been drinking and was sitting on a bench in Victoria Park at the time."
He was treated at the town's Musgrove Park Hospital for a minor head injury and released the next day.
The wallet contained an amount of Philippine pesos and officers want to hear from anyone who has had this currency offered for exchange.
