A FITNESS coach from Chard has set off on a charity challenge.

Vicki Stanners, who works at 1610 in Chard, will be putting her own fitness to the test as she prepares to cycle from John O’Groats to Land’s End.

She will be taking on the challenge alongside her dad.

The pair aim to raise money for Help for Heroes.

Vicki started the challenge on Monday, October 1, with her 52-year-old father Steven.

They hope to raise £2,000 for their chosen charity and have raised £200 so far.

Help for Heroes was selected as they have a number of friends and family members involved in the armed forces.

Vicki’s father Steven, who lives in Beaminster in Dorset has been training separately from his daughter but Vicki is confident that they will both be a huge support for one another through this gruelling challenge.

The dedicated fitness coach said: “I have a good level of fitness because of my job as a coach at 1610 Chard but I have been training around Chard out on my road bike.

“My Dad has been preparing for the trip by taking part in spinning sessions.

“He has always been a great support to me throughout my life and I think we will help each other out when the it gets really tough, with tired legs and wet weather.

“Hopefully we will inspire others to take up their own fitness challenges as well as raising a lot of money for a fantastic charity.”

Vicki is one of a number of 1610 staff who are taking part in a series of fitness challenges this autumn including a Skydive to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation, the 1610 Charity of the Year.
