COLOURFUL creations have been left around Chard town centre in order to raise awareness of babyl oss.

To coincide with the official Baby Loss Awareness Month, Daisy Hutchings decided to yarnbomb throughout the town in memory of her little girl Belle.

Daisy’s baby was stillborn in October last year.

She felt isolated after the heartbreaking experience which she believes is down to lack of understanding. She hopes to address that by raising awareness and to get people talking about it - despite it being a tricky subject.

She said: “My little girl was stillborn at 35 weeks on October 6 last year. “As you can imagine this was the most heart breaking time me and my family went through.

“A lot of people avoided us and didn’t know what to say which is understandable, but we were still the same people.

“Because of this, it has give us the biggest boost to get out there and get people talking about baby loss and try and stop it being such a taboo that it is.”

To break the taboo, Daisy and her team at Single Yellow Rose used pom poms and other yarn creations to get people talking.

She added: “Next year we plan to go bigger and cover more areas with pink and blue pom poms so make more of a impact.

“October is Baby Loss Awareness month so this is why we have done it this month.”

Daisy and the rest of the group are holding a charity ball this month to continue their fundraising and awareness work.

Daisy hopes to make the Single Yellow Rose group a charity, but must raise £5,000 first.

The ball is set to take place on Saturday (October 6).

Once set up, they are planning to fund a memorial garden and also refurbish the bereavement room at Yeovil Hospital.
