A VOLUNTEER who has been helping blind people enjoy reports from your County Gazette has hung up her microphone.
Sue Derham made her final recording of news from your favourite weekly newspaper on Friday.
She had been a member of the Polden team - one of five teams of the Taunton Deane Audio News - for more than 20 years.
When she started, weekly recording sessions were made onto cassette audio tapes at a classroom at Queen's College.
Nowadays the reports are recorded digitally at Somerset Sight's HQ in Staplegrove Road and distributed on memory sticks.
Sue said: "I have thoroughly enjoyed reading for audio news and I know I'll miss seeing the team.
"It's such a worthwhile organisation to be involved with and the years have slipped by very quickly."
Taunton Deane Audio News volunteers provide people with little or no sight the opportunity to listen to the weekly local news through the free of charge Talking Newspaper service.
