SOCIAL housing was on the agenda when Glastonbury Festival founder Michael Eavis visited Bridgwater for a special event in 2008.
Mr Eavis, who had been involved with several housing initiatives in the Pilton area, was at Sedgemoor Auction Centre for SHAL
Housing’s annual seminar event.
He spoke to writer and broadcaster Simon Fanshawe about the festival and his involvement in social housing.
Mr Eavis said donations of land to be used for affordable housing in the village had been a success, and his intention was to provide housing for local people, and he encouraged land owners to support their villages in similar ways.
“It’s important to get the message across to others," he said.
"Being involved with this social housing project is one of the best things I have done in my life.”
