COULD something like this be built on Firepool?
Apparently Taunton Deane Borough Council is working towards "a multi-use convention, conference and music venue" on the former market site in Taunton.
Cllr Mark Edwards, deputy leader of the authority, said: "Early days but initial investigations looking positive."
He has posted the photo of a French venue on Twitter, which he says "could be a catalyst".
Mr Edwards adds that the venue could host comedy, live music, conferences and conventions.
He says: "My research so far looks at a max capacity of 2000 but could be 500."
"Early days but I need to gauge support which helps in discussions with operators."
Trish Caller, of Genius Events, has replied: "I have the biggest names in comedy waiting to work with me in #Taunton #Taunton.... for me it would have to be a minimum of 1200...to attract the bigger name tours... with flexible smaller spaces for other shows etc... I'd only need it 4 or 5 times a year!"
