AN elderly cat left behind when her owners emigrated is looking for a new home before Christmas.

Perky, 13, was handed over to Cats Protection's Taunton and Wellington branch in June because the owners were unable to take her with them.

Volunteers at the charity are desperate to find her a new home she can settle into ahead of the festive season.

Ann Manners, co-ordinator of Cats Protection’s Taunton and Wellington branch, said: "Perky is a lovely cat who would make a wonderful pet, yet she’s been passed by time and time again, perhaps because of her age.

"She may be 13, but she’s still an active and independent cat and has so much to offer.

"She’d love a home where she can potter about in the garden before curling up on her owner’s lap for a snooze. She’d happily sit on a lap for hours on end, purring away.

"Older cats like Perky make great pets, as they often prefer to stay closer to home, have a calmer nature and enjoy the companionship of their owner."
