ST GILES Animal Rescue centre has launched a shoebox appeal for its animals.
The charity is asking for donations of Christmas gifts such as collars, leads, bowls and blankets.
The full list of items wanted include:
- Collar and lead
- Collapsible bowls
- Strong chew toys or ropes
- Dog coat
- Dental chew sticks
- Lightweight blanket
- Microfibre towel
- Dried food and biscuits
- Food sachets
- and other festive gifts
It will then either donate the boxes to homeless people who care for dogs, or use the items to care for the animals that arrive during the festive season.
Filled boxes can be dropped to the centre in Wrantage or one of the other locations.
Donation points will be found at:

- Pampered Pooches, Wellington
- The Bell Inn
- Wrantage Food Mills
- Driver Hire
- Apple Campers
- Stoke St Gregory
