TAUNTON Town are back in action tonight (ko 7.45pm), with the chance to go second in the table if they beat Walton Casuals at the Viridor Stadium.

The Peacocks closed the gap to the top two with a 4-2 victory over Wimborne Town on Saturday, and they can leapfrog second-placed Salisbury with victory this evening.

Taunton's head of football Rob Dray told the County Gazette: "It's nice to be up at that end, rather than the wrong end, and it's good for the club and the supporters to see the team there.

"But there's a hard six weeks coming up, with 11 games and 33 points to play for.

"We need to carry on doing what we're doing, we'll get to January and reassess from there."

The Peacocks welcome back striker Andrew Neal after his suspension and defender Josh Nelmes, who was away for the Wimborne game, but Ollie Chamberlain is likely to remain sidelined.

Dray said: "[Chamberlain] is struggling a bit, he's got a niggly knee injury, but we have good numbers in our squad and we'll assess him again ahead of the weekend.

"It's the first time this season we've had 16 available, so it's good to have a full bench."

On Surrey-based Walton Casuals, who lie 12th in the table and are yet to win an away league match this season, Dray added: "They're a really good side, and there's an element of the unknown about them.

"We've had reports on them, but you never really know until it's 11 against 11 out there.

"It will be another tough game; we've seen that in our matches with Wimborne, 17th in the league, and Swindon Supermarine, 19th, that there are no easy games in this league."

Tonight's fixture is the first ever meeting between the two teams.
