SAMANTHA Winter has been appointed as the new town clerk for Burnham and Highbridge Town Council.

She will take up the role at the beginning of January and will spend a few weeks working with the outgoing clerk, Tatiana Cant, for a smooth handover.

Mayor Cllr Bill Hancock said: “We’re thrilled that Sam will be joining us next year. We will of course be sorry to see Tatiana leave and she has worked hard to help the council take on new initiatives.

“Sam is very knowledgeable and experienced and I’m sure that she will pick up the reins and help us make real progress to the benefit of the community in both our

towns.”

Sam has worked with parish and town councils since 2013 and is currently the town clerk at Shepton Mallet Town Council where she has enjoyed successin delivering a number of high value projects in the community.

She lives with her husband and two children in Mark. She said: “I am truly delighted to have been appointed Town Clerk to Burnham on Sea & Highbridge Town Council.

"The parish is already important to my family as it’s where we shop, socialise and eat out.

"It’s a really exciting privilege to be given the opportunity to work for the continued improvement of the area.”
