TWO Minehead men have been showing the true spirit of Christmas over the past fortnight, volunteering to collect food to support those in need in the West Somerset area.
Hairdresser Dan James, who runs Something Else hair salon in Summerland Road, and his friend Chris Jones have taken to the streets of Minehead armed with a shopping trolley covered in tinsel, some festive hats and a smile, asking for any food people can spare for the West Somerset Foodbank.
They have been handing out leaflets in advance to residents who live in the streets they will be visiting so that they are prepared for the visit.
Mr James said: “We have been totally overwhelmed by the response so far.
“People have been so kind and generous and it just shows what a great community spirit we have here in Minehead.”
Next Saturday and Sunday, Dan and Chris will be out hoping to gain more goods in Bampton Street, Paganel Road and Parkhouse Road as well as surrounding streets.
