THIS was the dramatic scene when a Bridgwater van driver was caught up in severe winds last week.
Van driver Les Trunks was heading along Westonzoyland Road when a tree fell onto his van during the heavy winds on Thursday morning (November 29).
“Luckily no-one else was hurt," he said.
"I was a bit shaken to see the tree falling down in front of me as I couldn’t avoid it and there is a 10ft ditch the other side of the road.
“I do apologise for the traffic chaos but it was Mother Nature, not me.”

As well as the A372 being closed, Somerset Highways staff dealt with a number of incidents of fallen trees as Somerset endured high winds which prompted a weather warning from the Met Office.
Trees also reportedly came down in Bridgwater, Brent Knoll, East Brent, Wellington and Lympsham.
