THERE were three sizeable donations last week to Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment (SURE), which equips the Beacon Centre cancer unit at Taunton's Musgrove Park Hospital.

Andrew Potter, of Bridgwater, raised £862.50 running Exeter Marathon in May; there was £500 from the Lloyds Bank Foundation in match funding for Gail Wills, who made £1,072 at a quiz at Victoria Park Bowls Club; and SURE committee ladies presented £1,000 from a raffle at the Beacon Centre last week.

Joanne McNulty raised £175 from a quiz at the Art Cafe, Chard, and she donated £37.15 from herself, friends and family, including £25 in 5p coins.

Thursday's Women's Fellowship Club, in Wellington, collected £94.95 in 5ps and £46.18 from Sarah Miller and friends was mainly in 5ps.

There was £62 from the Wellington School Somerset Lodge from its recent alms collection, while left at the Beacon Centre was £83.45 from Blagdon Retirement Village, of which £75.65 was in 5ps.

Also donated was £39.75 in 5ps from Michael Burnet; £102 in £2 coins from Patrick and Elizabeth Scribbans, of Minehead; an anonymous donation of £1.23; and from the Beacon Centre £120.40, mainly in 5ps.

The weekly total of £3,124.61 means £834,644.43 has been raised for SURE since it linked up with the County Gazette.
