PHIL Hill is right to highlight the poor health stats in the county and this at a time when mental health issues are being more and more recognized as the serious problem that they are.

Why then, is the county council choosing to withdraw funding from sporting and health facilities run by 1610 across the county?

Sport for all and regular exercise are hugely beneficial in the fight against unhealthy lifestyle and mental illness.

I know the council is strapped for cash, but spending a relatively small amount now will undoubtedly save far more that will need to be spent tackling the affects of poor physical and mental health in the future.
