A HAIRDRESSER and her team will be giving free cuts to homeless people in the run up to Christmas.

Emma Holt and her staff and helpers at BCreative Hair will be opening the salon on December 23 from 11am until 4pm to give free haircuts to people in need.

Ms Holt was inspired to do something to give back to the community for the most vulnerable people in the town.

The mum-of-three has been running her business for four years and is based on Kingston Road in Taunton.

GIVING BACK: BCreative Hair, Kingston Road, Taunton

She said: "I haven’t come from a rich background.

"My mum bought me up alone and we never had nice things growing up, so I’ve seen the side of life where it’s been a struggle. I’ve been there myself but I believe people deserve a chance and anything is possible if you put your mind to it.

"Giving to people less fortunate in life is giving them a helping hand, a second chance, so giving haircuts and a pamper to people who would never usually step foot in a salon is putting a smile on their face and giving them positive energy.

"We are all human and all deserve to be seen.

"A haircut may not seem much but for someone’s self confidence in feeling fresh and clean it can mean the world."

Since posting about her idea on the BCreative Facebook page she has been inundated with messages of support and has had other businesses offering to help on the day.

The determined hairdresser has planned an array of pampering and care sessions for anyone in need that wants to drop by.

She added: "Lots of businesses and volunteer have come forward to help out on day we hope to have a full salon on the day.

"We have a dog groomer offering free health checks and wash for any dogs they may have .

"Bills Restaurant is donating tea and coffee, Boots is donated skin care samples, Terri Hudson is donating new t-shirts, we have people making cakes, and my mum Julie Hayes is making Christmas cards so everyone gets one."

Emma is accepting donations at the salon for things to give out on the day.

She says any items can be delivered to the salon until December 22.
