THE two Members of Parliament who represent the North Wales Pioneer area have adopted diametrically opposed positions on the future of the Prime Minister: one intending to vote for her in today’s party election and one against her.

David Jones, who is the Member for Clwyd West, which includes Colwyn Bay, Abergele, and extends into Denbighshire, said: “My chief concern is to ensure that Brexit is a success for the UK. I do not believe that that will be possible under her leadership.

“I was one of the first to declare my support for her and it has been an extremely hard decision to make that I can no longer give that support.”

Guto Bebb, who represents the Aberconwy constituency which covers Llandudno, Conwy, Penrhyn Bay and the Conwy Valley said: “I will be voting for the Prime Minister in this election which has been demanded by extremists within the Conservative Party in Westminster.

“Brexit is a challenge that has proved impossible to solve but that, in no way, reflects on the efforts of Theresa May who has been tireless in her work. Whilst key Brexit ministers such as Boris Johnson, David Davis, Steve Baker and Dominic Raab resigned taking no responsibility for a mess of their own making, the Prime Minister has persevered.”

He added: “She deserves the loyalty of colleagues and she has my vote.”
