THE driver of a car involved in a fatal crash on the M5 has been arrested.
Emergency services were called to the M5 in the early hours of this morning (Friday, December 21) to reports of a crash on the northbound carriage between Taunton and Wellington.
The crash involved a white Audi A3 and a black Mini Cooper at around 2.15am.
The driver of one of the cars involved was taken to hospital, where he sadly died.
Following the crash police arrested the driver of the other vehicle for failing a roadside breath test and they remain in police custody.
The man's next of kin has been informed.
Avon and Somerset Police is now appealing for witnesses to the crash to come forward.
A spokesman said: "If you were on the motorway at the time and witnessed the collision, or saw a white Audi A3 or a black Mini Cooper in the moments before it happened, please get in touch."
