ROADS surrounding Taunton are closed this morning after all level crossings on a railway line have failed.
Somerset County Council has closed a number of roads this morning after the crossings failed to work on the line between Westbury, in Wiltshire, and Exeter.
A spokesman said: "There has been a failure of the barriers on all the level crossings on the main railway line from Westbury to Exeter.
"Somerset Highways is working with colleagues at Network Rail to keep road users safe.

The following roads have been closed:
- Stanmore Road, Curload - from Stoke St Gregory to Burrowbridge (Athelney Crossing)
- Allerford Road, Norton Fitzwarren - from Allerford to Hele (Victory Crossing)
- East Nynehead Road - Nynehead to Bradford-on-Tone (Trefusis Crossing)
- Slough Lane
It is not yet known when the roads will reopen.
