THE token scheme at the Waitrose store in Wellington raised £678 for the Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment charity.

Other donations for the County Gazette-backed SURE included £239.89 from the sale of various donated items from Mrs Stockham of Puriton.

There was also £76.74, including £61.65 in 5p coins, from Minster Pharmacy, Ilminster; £10.63 in loose change from Gladys Harris, of Woolavington; and £3.80 in 5ps from her friend.

Left at the Beacon Centre was £8.40 in 5ps from Mrs M. Wenham; £30, including £20 in 5ps, from Norman Tomkies, of Street; and £100 from Silvia Woodgate, of Milverton.

A total from the Beacon Centre of £148.85, including £133.05 in 5ps, took the weekly total to £1,287.31.

The overall amount raised since SURE linked up with the Gazette now stands at £840,018.59.
