A MONTH and a half worth of roadworks on an extremely busy road in Taunton has been delayed.
Wessex Water planned to start the roadworks on Wellington New Road on Monday, January 21, but it has now been announced they will not take place as planned.
The works were set to be carried out near to the roundabout where the A38 joins Silk Mills and Wellington New Road from January 21 until March 1.
A lane was planned to be closed while the works took place, leaving motorists' fearing for intense congestion.
Wessex Water needs to carry out work to two existing water mains in Wellington Road, but has delayed the work start date.
A spokesman said the works will take place in 'five or six weeks' time' but an official start date could not be confirmed yet.
Signs advertising the roadworks were on display on the roundabout where Silk Mills meets the A358.
