THE last few spaces are up for grabs in a swimming charity fundraiser that has established itself as one of the top events in the Taunton calendar.
Organisers of next month's Taunton Soroptimist Swimathon are hoping the event will bring in more than £20,000 for good causes.
The event at Taunton Preparatory School on Saturday and Sunday, February 23 and 24, will see teams of up to six swimming 50 metres in relay for 53 minutes.
Co-ordinator Christine Briggs said: "We're well into the final arrangements, but we still have some slots available and would love to have some more teams to fill the two days right up.
"Last year we raised just over £20,000 and we'd like to raise even more this year."
Entry is £10 per team - for information and to download a form go to sigbi.org/taunton/soroptimist-swimathon or call bookings officer Pauline Clarke on 01823-423187.
All of the swimmers will receive a medal and there are also lots of trophies to be won.
Since it was first held in 1988, the swimathon has raised £631,440 for local charities - this year St Margaret's Hospice, Somerset Sight and Taunton Citizen Advice are being supported.
