I AM very disappointed about the postponement of the proposal to close St James Street to traffic.
It is very dangerous for people trying to cross the road, with traffic coming round from North Street, also from Bridge Street.
When a pedestrian does manage to cross, one mostly has to walk in the road, dodging the traffic.
From the town end to the junction, I counted 14 signs on the pavement, plus a fruit and veg shop which has large wooden containers nearly covering the pavement.
Surely, people can see what the shops are offering?
Is the council waiting for someone to be injured, or worse, before they stick to their original plans?
