A FORMER DJ on trial for alleged historical sexual offences has denied Facebook messages to one of his accusers are proof he had underage sex with her.

Christopher Reynolds, 56, of Poplar Road, Taunton, denies raping a 16-year-old girl, seven indecent assaults on a girl under 16, one count of committing an act of indecency with a 12-year-old girl and one of indecently assaulting her.

At the start of the second week of his trial at Taunton Crown Court today (Monday), he described one of his victims as "mature" for her age and admitted the two of them indulged in "heavy flirting" when he was 27 and she was 14, although he denied anything sexual.

Reynolds is alleged to have had sexual contact with her when he drove her to and from a club in Bridgwater and the court heard he raped her at a wedding after she had turned 16.

An exchange of private messages on Facebook written several years later was read to the court.

Reynolds wrote: "Hope I haven't upset you...it's just the last time I saw you, you were on my bed."

He added: "20 years or 5 mins, you still done it."

When his alleged victim replied: "It was illegal what you did. You're a dirty old man..a paedophile. You're lucky I never went to the police."

Reynolds said: "You know what you were doing...you loved it too. So don't call me names after all you have done. It was you and me."

Reynolds, who claimed he can hardly read and write due to dyslexia, denied the messages were about anything sexual and said a friend had helped him write them.

The trial will resume tomorrow morning.
