A STABLE was destroyed in an early hours fire this morning (Wednesday).
Firefighters were called by the owners to the blaze at Garlandhayes, near Clayhidon, at 4.45am.
Livestock had been moved to a place of safety before crews arrived to find the building, which was used as a tack room, well alight.
The fire was quickly brought under control by firefighters, who prevented it spreading to other attached buildings, although a neighbouring barn was affected by some hear transfer.
A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "The tack room was destroyed by fire but there were no casualties, livestock involved or further fire spread. Duty of care has been left with the owners."
