A COUNCIL meeting where controversial topics are set to be discussed will be streamed live.

Somerset County Council has confirmed it will be streaming its meeting to be viewed at Taunton Library on Wednesday, February 20.

Councillors are set to discuss budget plans, as well as a motion regarding declaring a climate change emergency.

The live stream from the meeting room at the library is being held so members of the public will not be disappointed if they're turned away from the busy meeting.

The meeting is set to commence at 10am.

A spokesman said: "At the full council meeting on Wednesday February 20, as well as considering budget plans for 2019/20, councillors will also be debating the climate change emergency.

"This agenda item is due to be discussed after midday once budget proposals have been considered.

"Please be aware that we are expecting a lot of interest in the full council meeting on Wednesday, so there will be limited space available in the public gallery.

"If you are a member of the public and are not due to speak at the meeting, you can watch the meeting through a live link being shown in Taunton Library’s Meeting Room on Paul Street."
