DRAMATIC photos show a huge blaze in West Somerset which took firefighters more than four hours to put out.

Emergency services were called to Black Hill, Rodhuish, at around 3.17pm yesterday (February 27).

More than 100 acres of of heathland was involved in the fire and is now completely destroyed.

A spokesman said: "To extinguish the fire the crew used 12 beaters, one ground hog, three 4X4 pumping vehicles, six engines and one 4X4.

"This fire involved 125 acres of heath land that was completely destroyed by fire."

The fire was extinguished by 7.30pm, but crews stayed onsite until 9.30pm making the site safe. 

The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
