IF you've got a spare £12million you could be the new owner of a huge building in Taunton town centre.

The freehold for the building, which currently houses Debenhams, is on the market for £11,920,000.

The building, 19-26 North Street, is being sold by Springer Nicholas.

The 86,911 sq ft building is currently let to Debenhams Retail PLC, which is set to expire on March 24, 2034.

In October, Debenhams announced it was to close 50 stores after recording the biggest loss in its history, putting around 4,000 jobs at risk.

Your County Gazette asked Debenhams whether the building sale would impact on the store's future.

Debenhams did not wish to comment on specific details, but a spokesman said properties can change hands all the time with tenants continuing to trade as before.
